This procedure is undertaken to cure atrial flutter by ablating in the right atrium. It is a simpler procedure than atrial fibrillation ablation and usually takes less time to perform.
Two or three catheters are placed inside the heart using the vein at the top of the leg. The small area inside the heart chamber that is responsible for the atrial flutter is then ablated. In some cases patients need to be taking warfarin before this procedure can be undertaken.
