This is the most common ablation procedure performed and usually follows an electrophysiology study.
The area responsible for the abnormal heart rhythm is identified by the electrophysiology study and then this area is modified by placing a catheter on the area and applying radiofrequency energy to heat it.
Once the area is modified it will no longer conduct electrical impulses responsible for the abnormal heart rhythms. Like all ablations we perform, it is undertaken following sedation and pain relief so that it is painless.
